Mardi Himal opened to trekkers in 2012 and still sees a fraction of ABC traffic. In seven days you walk from Pokhara through Gurung villages and rhododendron ridges to a base camp directly below Machapuchare. Ideal if you want Annapurna views without a two-week commitment.
