From the heights of Thorong La, descend to the sacred site of Muktinath and the windswept town of Jomsom, before concluding in the vibrant lakeside city of Pokhara.
Trekking counter-clockwise for easier acclimatization, this route is suited for those in good physical health. Proper hydration and medical consultation for high altitudes are recommended. Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by our representative holding a placard with your name. After a warm welcome, you’ll be transferred to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a traditional welcome dinner at a local restaurant, where you’ll meet your trekking guide and fellow travelers. The guide will provide a comprehensive briefing about the trek.
After breakfast, begin a full-day guided tour of Kathmandu, exploring its rich heritage and spiritual legacy. You will visit four of the city's seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These iconic landmarks offer insight into Nepal’s deep-rooted Hindu and Buddhist traditions.
Today, embark on a scenic drive westward from Kathmandu to Dharapani, located in the Manang district. The long journey (approximately 10–12 hours) passes through lush hills, terraced farms, local villages, and fast-flowing rivers. You will first drive to Besisahar on an private vehicle then you will find yourself travelling in a local jeep through the rough mountain roads to Dharapani. As you approach Dharapani, the landscape begins to change, giving you a first taste of the Himalayan terrain.
Your trekking adventure begins with a gradual ascent through beautiful forests, traditional villages, and steep valleys. As you approach Chame, the administrative center of the Manang District, you’ll notice the influence of Tibetan culture in local architecture and customs. Enjoy the views of Annapurna II and unwind in natural hot springs nearby.
The trail leads through dense pine forests and steep ridges along the Marsyangdi River. You’ll traverse a dramatic rock face rising over 1,500 meters above the valley floor—one of the most visually striking parts of the trek. Continue through the gorge until you reach the village of Pisang, offering breathtaking mountain panoramas.
Choose the high route for exceptional mountain views, passing through the villages of Ghyaru and Ngawal. The landscape transitions from forested slopes to semi-arid alpine terrain. Along the way, you’ll spot chortens, prayer wheels, and views of Tilicho Peak in the distance. Arrive in Manang, a key acclimatization stop with plenty to explore.
Spend a day acclimatizing to the altitude. You can take short hikes to Gangapurna Lake or the Bhojo Gompa viewpoint, offering stunning views of Annapurna III and Gangapurna Glacier. This rest day aids in a safer ascent in the coming days.
After breakfast, begin your trek to Khangsar, a traditional village en route to Tilicho Lake. The trail follows the Jharsing Khola, offering views of the Annapurna range and the Great Barrier. Along the way, visit ancient stupas and mani walls, and observe Tibetan Buddhist practices in the local community.
Climb steadily from Khangsar, passing through rugged landscapes dotted with juniper bushes and sea buckthorn. Navigate through landslide-prone areas with caution. As you ascend, the landscape becomes more barren and dramatic. Upon reaching Tilicho Base Camp, you'll be rewarded with incredible views of Tilicho Peak and surrounding mountains.
Set off early for a challenging but rewarding hike to Tilicho Lake, one of the world’s highest lakes. The pristine turquoise waters set against a backdrop of towering peaks create a surreal alpine scene. After soaking in the beauty and capturing photos, return to base camp for the night.
Retrace your steps to Khangsar and then continue the ascent toward Yak Kharka. The trail passes through meadows where yaks graze, offering stunning views and a peaceful alpine environment. Optional side hike to Chulu West Base Camp, depending on time and energy.
Continue your climb to Thorong Phedi, a small settlement nestled at the base of Thorong La Pass. The route includes crossing a suspension bridge, passing Ledar village, and climbing through rocky terrain. Expect fantastic views of several peaks, including Thorung Peak and Mt. Syagang.
Begin the day before dawn to cross Thorong La Pass—the highest point of the trek. The climb is steep and physically demanding, but the panoramic views from the top are unforgettable. Descend gradually to Muktinath, a sacred pilgrimage site revered by both Hindus and Buddhists.
Visit the Muktinath temple complex in the morning before descending to Jomsom via Lupra village, home to a rare Bonpo monastery. The trail passes through arid valleys and across the Kali Gandaki River. Arrive in Jomsom, a wind-swept town known for its apple orchards and mountain views.
Take a scenic drive from Jomsom to Pokhara, passing through charming villages, terraced fields, and dramatic river valleys. Upon arrival, enjoy some leisure time in this peaceful lakeside city nestled beneath the Annapurna range.
Explore Pokhara's natural and cultural landmarks. Enjoy a tranquil boat ride on Phewa Lake to Tal Barahi Temple, visit the World Peace Pagoda for panoramic views, and explore the International Mountain Museum. Relax with a lakeside walk and soak in the views of Machapuchare at sunset.
After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu (approx. 8–10 hours). On arrival, you may relax at the hotel or explore nearby markets for last-minute souvenirs
